The Wounded Healer: Following the Thread of Your Soul's Evolution

How nine years of Reiki, a journey through Chiron's transits, and the wisdom of Evolutionary Astrology helped me recognize the healer I am becoming.

I remember walking into LeeAnn's healing room for the first time. There was something about that space. The energy was peaceful, almost as though the outside world had stopped existing for a moment. I felt connected to Spirit, grounded in my body, and completely at ease.

And I remember thinking to myself, This is what I want to be like.

At the time, I had no idea how much meaning those words would eventually carry.

I had been reading tarot since my teenage years, meditating since youth alongside my mom, exploring mediumship, and seeking to understand the spiritual world through Astrology, for as long as I could remember. Spirituality wasn't something I discovered in adulthood. It had always been part of the way I relate to life.

But Reiki was different. It wasn't my introduction to Spirit. It was my introduction to consciously working with healing energy.

And looking back now, through the lens of Evolutionary Astrology, I can see how that initiation became part of a much larger evolutionary soul journey.

The Beginning: April 8, 2017

A close friend and I were constantly exploring spiritual practices. We attended readings, workshops, development circles, and anything else that allowed us to deepen our understanding of the unseen. Eventually, we discovered a beautiful little spiritual community in Pompton Lakes, NJ, where two women offered healing sessions and workshops.

One of them was LeeAnn.

I began receiving Reiki from her, and I loved everything about the experience. Her presence was healing in itself. I wasn't simply fascinated by the modality; I was moved by the way I felt around her and following our sessions.

When she announced a weekend Reiki Level I and II training, I immediately reached out to my friend.

Are you down?

And just like that, we signed up.

On April 8, 2017, I received my first Reiki attunements. I remember feeling peaceful, proud, and almost energetically washed clean. It was as though something had been cleared away, leaving me lighter and more connected to myself.

I also remember receiving a beetle in my solar plexus during my Reiki II initiation, an image that has stayed with me all these years.

What I couldn't have known then was that this experience would eventually become part of my livelihood.

At the time, I was working in corporate America in New York City, navigating relationships, professional ambitions, family dynamics, and the complicated process of becoming independent.

I was also a very different kind of spiritual seeker. I wanted to know everything.

Would this relationship last? Was another job coming? What was going to happen next?

My intuition was already a strong part of my life, but I was often seeking certainty about the future. Reiki introduced me to something I hadn't quite learned to access consistently.

Peace without needing another answer.

Chiron and the Wounded Healer

In astrology, Chiron represents the archetype of the wounded healer. His mythology tells the story of a wise centaur, healer, and teacher who carried a wound he could not heal himself.

I have always found this archetype fascinating because it challenges the idea that healing requires us to become entirely free of our wounds. Sometimes, the experiences that hurt us become the very experiences through which we develop compassion, wisdom, and the ability to guide others.

In Evolutionary Astrology, particularly through the work of Jeffrey Wolf Green, we examine the soul's evolutionary desires through Pluto, its polarity point, the lunar nodes, and their planetary rulers.

Chiron adds another layer to that exploration: the relationship between our wounds, the wisdom they may cultivate, and the ways we learn to become conscious participants in our own healing.

My natal Chiron is at 13° Gemini in the fourth house, closely opposite my Uranus in Sagittarius in the tenth.

The fourth house speaks to our emotional foundations, family conditioning, ancestral patterns, and the internal experience of belonging. Gemini brings the archetype of communication, perception, and the development of our own understanding.

For me, these themes have been deeply personal.

I grew up assuming emotional responsibilities that belonged to adults. I learned early how to anticipate other people's needs, manage circumstances around me, and become responsible in ways that didn't always leave room for my own emotional experience.

That process of parentification shaped my relationship with independence, responsibility, and my own voice.

And while I was developing my spiritual gifts, I was also doing the very human work of understanding those patterns.

For nearly a decade, I worked with a wonderful holistic psychologist who supported both my spiritual life and my psychological development. Through that work, I began recognizing where I had confused responsibility with love, where I had become overly identified with being needed, and where my own needs had been pushed aside.

I was learning to give my inner voice an outer voice. And I was learning that being spiritually connected didn't exempt me from having a human experience.

From Seeking Security to Becoming My Own Source

One of the most significant features of my natal chart is the relationship between Pluto and my lunar nodes.

I have Pluto in Scorpio in the eighth house, with its polarity point in Taurus in the second house.

Within Jeffrey Wolf Green's Evolutionary Astrology, Pluto represents the soul's underlying evolutionary desires. Its polarity point describes a direction of development that allows the soul to evolve beyond its existing patterns.

Scorpio and the eighth house concern the soul's relationship with power, attachment, transformation, emotional merging, and the experience of confronting its limitations.

Taurus and the second house invite a different evolutionary movement: developing inner resources, self-reliance, personal values, and security from within.

When I examine my own life through this polarity, I can recognize how much of my earlier development involved looking outward. Outward for certainty. Outward for reassurance. Outward for permission to trust what I already knew. And sometimes, outward toward people whose perceived authority or strength seemed greater than my own.

But the Taurus evolutionary direction asks us to cultivate something different.

What if security isn't something another person gives us? What if we can learn to become our own source of stability? And what if the peace we've been searching for has been available within ourselves all along?

This is where Reiki becomes such an important part of my evolutionary story. Because Reiki gave me a way to experience that peace. Not simply as an idea or spiritual philosophy, but as something I could actually feel.

The Years Between: A Calling Already Taking Shape

After my first attunements, I continued practicing Reiki on friends, family, pets, and occasionally colleagues who became clients. I had also trained in massage therapy years earlier, and I began incorporating Reiki into bodywork.

I even used it on my own feet after long days walking around The City!

But interestingly, I wasn't consistently using Reiki for my own emotional healing. I understood how to offer it to others. I understood how to create a peaceful environment. I understood how to channel healing energy during sessions.

I just hadn't fully recognized how much I could bring that same practice into my everyday life.

Meanwhile, my spiritual work was finding its way into my professional world.

Years before I became a full-time practitioner, I started a YouTube channel and began reading privately for international clients who found me through my videos.

I remember offering tarot readings to colleagues and being surprised by how many people signed up. I also had a Director who supported and encouraged my ideas, even when they weren't exactly conventional corporate initiatives.

Mental health days. Meditation spaces. Wellness activities. Yoga classes.

I loved creating environments where people could feel supported, connected, and a little more human at work.

Recently, I found myself messaging that former Director to thank him for believing in me and giving me the freedom to bring those ideas to life.

Then came July 2020.

During the pandemic, I began offering psychic readings and spiritual guidance through an international platform, while also offering one-on-one sessions through my private practice.

For the next few years, I continued working in corporate America while building my spiritual practice alongside it. Two seemingly different professional worlds, but looking back, I can see how much they were connected.

By November 2023, I was ready to take the leap and devote myself fully to my businesses.

And when I think about the wellness initiatives, meditation spaces, and opportunities to support people that I had created throughout my corporate career, I realize something.

I was already doing pieces of the work I do today. I just hadn't put them all together yet.

And perhaps that's one of the most fascinating things about soul evolution.

We don't always recognize the significance of what we're doing while we're doing it.

Sometimes, we only understand the thread when we look back.

Chiron's Journey Through My First and Second Houses

The timing of my Reiki journey becomes even more meaningful when I examine Chiron's transits.

On April 8, 2017, transiting Chiron was in late Pisces, approaching the cusp of my second house. It was completing its passage through my first house, the area associated with identity, embodiment, and our experience of ourselves.

The following year, Chiron entered Aries and began an extended transit through my second house.

In Evolutionary Astrology, the second house is closely associated with the Taurus archetype: survival, personal resources, values, self-sufficiency, and inner security.

And over those years, my relationship with those themes changed enormously.

What began in July 2020 as spiritual work alongside my corporate career gradually became something much bigger. By November 2023, I had transitioned into working full-time for myself, building my businesses around the very gifts I had spent years developing.

And that transition wasn't only professional. It required me to examine my relationship with financial security, independence, self-worth, and the value I placed on my own work.

I was learning to trust myself not only as a spiritual practitioner, but as someone capable of creating and sustaining a life through her own gifts.

I learned to recognize the value of my spiritual work, create boundaries around my energy, and support myself through the gifts I had spent years developing. I also continued examining the family conditioning that had shaped my understanding of responsibility and independence.

The evolutionary connection is especially meaningful because my Pluto polarity point is in Taurus in the second house. The very house through which Chiron was traveling was also the house describing a central direction of my soul's evolutionary development.

For me, this is one of the reasons astrology can be such a powerful tool for personal development. It allows us to revisit our experiences with a different level of consciousness and recognize patterns we may not have understood while living through them.

But this journey wasn't only about my relationship with myself.

In the summer of 2018, just as Chiron was beginning its passage through Aries, I started seeing the man who would eventually become my husband. His presence became part of this evolutionary chapter in ways I couldn't have anticipated.

He believed in my spiritual gifts, supported my purpose, and encouraged me to build a life around the work that felt most authentic to me.

And as our relationship grew, so did my understanding of what it means to be supported without surrendering my independence.

Because developing self-reliance doesn't mean we stop needing or loving others. It means learning to stand in our own truth while allowing relationships to enrich, rather than define, our sense of self.

Looking back, I can see how our partnership became part of my movement toward the Taurus archetype: building a life rooted in love, shared values, stability, and the freedom to be myself.

We married in 2025, and almost a year later, another meaningful milestone would arrive.

September 29, 2026: Returning to the Healing Within

My decision to pursue Reiki Master training was completely unexpected.

I was on the Big Island of Hawaii, following a period of navigating difficult family circumstances and making some important decisions about my own boundaries.

During that trip, I participated in a guided meditation with Reiki Rachael. At the end, she mentioned that enrollment for her Reiki Master training was closing the following week.

And something in me immediately responded.

I didn't need to think about it for weeks. I simply felt called. So I signed up.

On September 29, 2026, during the first class of the training, I received my Reiki Master attunement.

This time, I was seated with my feet grounded on the floor. I cried. I released.

During the attunement, I experienced Archangel Sandalphon holding my left hand, Archangel Metatron at my crown with a Merkaba, and Archangel Haniel before me, presenting a panther (one of my spirit animals) beneath a full moon beside a peaceful ocean.

When the attunement ended, I felt energy moving through my throat that needed to be released, so I proceeded to clear it.

And afterward, I felt calm.

What makes this experience especially interesting astrologically is that Chiron had briefly entered Taurus earlier in 2026 before retrograding back into Aries in September. My Master attunement occurred during that return to Aries, still within my second house.

Symbolically, I was returning to a healing practice I had begun nearly nine years earlier, but with an entirely different relationship to myself.

I wasn't beginning my journey as a healer. I was already living it.

And there was another detail that caught my attention.

My Reiki Master training concluded within two days of our first wedding anniversary and I was in New York City for my final class.

I couldn't help but notice the timing.

One milestone marked a year of marriage to someone who had supported my spiritual path, through providing support in ways I had never experienced before, and believed in the work I was building. The other marked a new level of commitment to the healing practice that had been part of my life long before we met.

Two different journeys, unfolding alongside one another. And both, in their own ways, had helped me recognize how much I had grown.

Becoming the Healer I Once Admired

Something shifted during my Master training, although not necessarily in the way I expected.

Listening to Rachael describe how she incorporated Reiki into her everyday life opened my eyes. She spoke about sending Reiki ahead to places she would travel, working with healing grids, incorporating energetic portals, and bringing intention into ordinary circumstances.

I recognized so much of myself in her approach.

And then I had one of those moments where I thought:

Wait. Why am I not doing more of this for myself?

For years, I had been offering Reiki to others. I used it for myself before sessions, cleared my healing room, and incorporated it into my work.

But I hadn't fully explored what it could mean to make self-Reiki a consistent part of my daily life.

Now, I find myself using it much more intentionally. I sit in my healing space, connect with my guides, and allow myself to receive.

Sometimes I notice how deeply rested I feel afterward. Sometimes I see that reflected in my recovery data the following morning.

But what matters most is the experience of returning to myself.

And recently, while reflecting on my first Reiki teacher, I remembered that thought I had in LeeAnn's healing room:

This is what I want to be like.

I started crying.

Because I realized that, in many ways, I had become that person.

People enter my healing room and tell me how peaceful it feels. Clients tell me how much comfort they experience during our sessions. I see the expressions on my yoga students' faces at the end of class.

And now, during moments of self-healing, I can experience that same peaceful presence within myself.

Not every moment of every day. I'm still human. I still get in my head. I still question myself.

But I know how to come back.

And that might be one of the most meaningful expressions of the wounded healer's journey. Not becoming someone who never experiences pain or uncertainty. But learning how to return to the healing that lives within yourself.

Keep Holding the Thread

If I could sit across from the version of myself who received her first Reiki attunements in 2017, I know what I would tell her.

Keep holding the thread.

Don't let go of what you know to be true about yourself.

There will be times when you don't understand why you're drawn to something. There will be things you study, people you meet, places you visit, and experiences that don't seem connected to anything else.

But look closely. Look at the corners of your life. You'll find the clues.

For me, that thread has always been my spiritual path. For someone else, it might be music, dance, art, writing, business, or something entirely different.

The calling doesn't always arrive with a complete explanation. It simply asks us to pay attention.

And when I look back at my own journey through the lens of Evolutionary Astrology, I can recognize how much of my life has been guiding me toward the same place.

To trust my own voice. To recognize my own resources. To stop looking outside myself for every answer. And to remember that the healing I have spent the majority of my years offering others is also available to me.

You are calling you the whole time.
